Today we have shared with Pedro Luis 20 years of service of civil protection grouping of Alicante and we have welcomed the achievement of the 60,000 service hours annually. The Association of Civil Protection of the City of Alicante just turned 20 years since its founding. Always with Pedro Luis Pérez Esteve front, the service has not stopped growing, both in quantity and quality. Currently, the volunteers performed an average of 60,000 hours a year on services for the city, from its decisive participation in the surveillance and rescue on the beaches of Alicante to work in all kinds of events and parties such as the bonfires, the Holy Face or Easter. The implication of this body in Alicante society unthinkable conclusion of any major event in the city without the presence of Civil Defence volunteers.
Service began two decades ago with eight volunteers, who gathered in a small room for organizing services. Lacked vehicles and had no communication equipment. Today, the Association has 75 volunteers and has a dozen well-equipped vehicles, modern equipment transmissions and a spacious seat, dignified and well equipped.
The event will have appointed six new honor volunteers and has delivered metopes, plaques and badges thanks to twelve people in recognition of their support and collaboration with volunteers.
