Councilman Jorge Espí socialist states that the new text does not address pedestrian safety or environmental sustainability
THE SOCIALIST GROUP CLAIMS PRESENTED TO THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE OF PEDESTRIANS AND VEHICLES
Municipal Socialist Group has made several allegations regarding the final approval of the Municipal Traffic and Pedestrian Vehicles. Jorge Espí argues that "we must advocate for a new culture for urban mobility in the pedestrian becomes the true protagonist. It is necessary to protect and condition the sidewalks. It is also necessary to create large pedestrian routes and crossings through the artificial barriers created by the bicycle routes and transport infrastructure. "
Meanwhile, Carmen Sánchez Brufal states that "building a house from the roof: the works are performed first and, failing to adapt these to the municipal ordinance (to be out of the current legislation), we have to modify the this ordinance. It is inexplicable but unfortunately we're used to seeing him frequently in the management that makes the Partido Popular in Alicante. " Comment Jorge Espí
that is very positive to promote the use of bicycles as a clean transport vehicle, a fact that has a great impact on the sustainability of the city and the quality of air we breathe, but this Ordinance part of a concept wrong to develop a plan where conflict is between the bicycle and pedestrian when, in reality, it should facilitate the use of the bike as clean transport to shore, little by little, from motor vehicles. " Notes the socialist mayor that what should have done is to plan combining different types of transport: bicycles and motor vehicles but not at the expense of the welfare and safety of pedestrians. Jorge
Espí notes that the arguments presented by the Municipal Socialist Group has as a main pedestrian safety that should be a priority, as established by Law 11/1998 of 5 May of the Generalitat Valenciana Accessibility and removal of barriers architectural urban planning and communication.
